Were NBA Players Secretly Acting On HBO’s “The Wire”?

NBA HBO The Wire

January 9, 2009 – Dr. Anklesnap

After reading this post this morning where a reference is made to Baron Davis being thought to look like Cutty from HBO’s “The Wire”, it got me thinking about other NBA players that sort of look like characters from the hit show. Then I realized there are quite a few resemblances actually.

Maybe too many? Hmmm….

The NBA Commissioner David Stern has been the subject of a few conspiracy theories during his tenure in the NBA, but is this another one for the list? Is David Stern secretly farming out his athletes to HBO as stunt doubles and fill in’s for their show “The Wire” for a fraction of the cost that real actors make? You be the judge:

Is Darius Miles actually Omar Little?

Is Baron Davis actually Dennis ‘Cutty’ Wise?

Is Tracy McGrady actually Marlo Stanfield?

Is Gilbert Arenas actually Russell ‘Stringer’ Bell?

Is Isiah Thomas actually Brother Mouzone?

You may notice that all of the above players, with the exception of Isiah Thomas, have “conveniently” spent significant amounts of time away from their teams due to injuries which would enable them to film episodes of “The Wire”. As for Mr. Thomas, he had it a bit easier i’m sure slipping out for brief periods to film the few scenes containing Brother Mouzone.

What still has me puzzled however is how David Stern convinced the NBA legend Bill Russell to come out of retirement and play Detective Lester Freamon…..

And finally….my last bit of proof that David Stern is secretly funnelling NBA personel into the HBO TV show casts….

Is Steve Nash actually Proposition Joe?

Okay maybe not so much this last one…it’s a bit of a stretch….but you get my drift, right? If you spot any other NBA look-a-likes on HBO show’s you let me know please. We have to stay on top of this, we can’t let Stern walk scot-free.
