Vince Carter is Turning Back the Clock this Season

Vince Carter is the oldest player in the NBA at 39 years old (he will turn 40 in January) and is experiencing what many consider his swan song in his 19th season in the league.

A likely hall of fame player as a member of the prestigious 24,000 point club and quite possibly the best dunker in the history of the game. “The Human Highlight Film” was the most electrifying and awe inspiring player in the NBA in his heyday, wowing millions with his incredible athleticism and talents.

Those days have long passed and Carter has settled in his role as a fringe rotation player and mentor for Memphis’ younger players the past three seasons.

He has been a bit more for the Grizzlies thus far in the 2016-17 season finding the fountain of youth and becoming a big time contributor once again. He is averaging 10.2 points and 4.2 rebounds in 27.7 minutes per game, including 20 points and seven rebounds in the Grizzlies victory in Utah Monday night.

He became the oldest player in NBA history to come off the bench and score 20 points in a game.

With Chandler Parsons returning and working his way back into big minutes, Carter’s playing time will definitely decrease, but time will tell if Carter will be able to maintain this level of production and friskiness throughout the remainder of the season.

We can only hope that we are lucky enough to be treated to a little more Vinsanity this season.
