Willy Hernangomez is ‘Mad’ About Falling Out of the New York Knicks’ Rotation

Imagine your favorite NBA team spending the offseason peddling visions of investing in a young core only to then begin the schedule by benching a 23-year-old big who’s considered an integral part of the future.

Granted, if you’re a New York Knicks fan, you don’t have to imagine anything.

Because this is exactly what’s happening with Willy Hernangomez.

Enes Kanter and Kristaps Porzingis are getting the nods as starters, and Kyle O’Quinn is the first big off the bench. Hernangomez has been lost in the shuffle as a result, logging a total of four minutes through the Knicks’ first two games, including one “DNP.”

Not surprisingly, he’s unhappy about the situation, per the New York Post‘s Fred Kerber:

“The same. I’m still mad,” Hernangomez said. “I cannot help the team win if I’m sitting on the bench. Two games in a row. It’s tough. I have to wait my moment. I cannot say nothing more.”
