Bucks Trade Plumlee to Hornets for Hibbert, Hawes

Well now that we are in February, you can fully expect the trade chatter that has been constant since mid-December to actually come to life as teams try to improve their roster or give themselves more financial flexibility for whatever path they are headed toward.

One domino fell and came out of left field, as most trades that actually occur do, as the Bucks dealt Miles Plumlee to the Hornets for Roy Hibbert and Spencer Hawes.

ESPN’s Marc Stein broke the story as he tries to compete with the frequent Woj bombs from Yahoo and The Vertical Reporter Adrian Wojnarowski.

Plumlee has been a disappointment for the Bucks this season, averaging 2.6 points and 1.7 rebounds in nine minutes per game. The Bucks (shockingly) signed him to a four year, $50 million extension in the off-season. They have to be happy to be able to deal his contract as he is clearly not a part of their future.

Hawes and Hibbert have struggled mightily and did nothing to help a floundering Hornets team who have gone 1-10 with their most dependable big man Cody Zeller injured this season.

They more than likely won’t have much of a role in Milwaukee, but Hibbert’s expiring deal and Hawes’s player option basically means the team can wash their hands of the cap spent on Plumlee this summer.

The North Carolina native has been a target for the Hornets for some time with his energy and athleticism and should fill a big role while Zeller is out.
