Sneak-a-Peak: adidas T-Mac 1 – ‘All-Star’ Returns

July 18, 2012 – Ben Berry

adidas has sponsored a lot of high profile players with signature sneakers for as long as I can remember. Arguably the most liked signature series was the one given to Tracy McGrady. McGrady, being a Stripes lifer, exclusively rocked with adidas throughout his entire career and because of that, his line has been given the “Retro treatment” with the re-release of the ‘All-Star’ T-MAC 1.

The attention-grabbing silver upper is complemented with black rubber branding on the toe which runs down the side and into the sole. On the heels we see that the year 2002 was added along with the image of a cracked bell which, most likely, represents the Liberty Bell that currently resides in Philadelphia where the 2002 All-Star Weekend took place. This ‘All-Star’ T-MAC 1 is more of a true re-issue of the original than it may seem since it doesn’t include McGrady’s logo which is accurate as it did not start appearing on sneakers until the T-Mac 2.

The T-Mac 1 is the sneaker that McGrady captured during the first of his back-to-back scoring titles during the ’02-’03 NBA season; which made him the youngest scoring title holder since the ABA/NBA merger.
