Even Michael Jordan was “The Next…” Someone

Some of you might remember a series I wrote called “The Nextology of Michael Jordan”. In the series I talked about the media hype machine, and that for some reason they always wanted to compare young rising stars to the G.O.A.T., Michael Jordan. Well when I saw this special on Michael Jordan being run by NBA TV, I just had to share it with you.

In this particular segment, James Worthy and Julius Erving himself discuss the comparisons the media were making in the mid 1980′s between the young rookie Michael Jordan and one of the NBA all-time greats ‘Dr. J’ (Julius Erving). It just goes to show you the comparing young rising stars in the NBA to their predecessors long precedes the whole “Next Michael Jordan” debates.

You will have a chuckle when young Michael tells the reporter that ‘he hopes he can have a career as good as Dr. J someday’. Umm….mission accomplished your ‘Airness’….
