Russell Westbrook is putting together one of the greatest individual seasons in the NBA’s 70 year history.
He will finish this season averaging a triple-double and is now on the cusp of tying and more than likely breaking Oscar Robertson’s record, a record of 41 triple-doubles in a single season once seen as unbreakable.
Westbrook came one step closer Sunday night by becoming the 2nd player in NBA history to have 40 triple-doubles in a single season.

Westbrook had 40 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists in the Thunder’s surprising 113-101 home loss to the Hornets Sunday night.
He is now averaging 31.9 points, 10.6 rebounds and 10.4 assists per game this season.
Westbrook currently has a streak of six consecutive triple-doubles and has six more games to see if he can break and set a new mark for triple-doubles in a single season with 42 or more.
It seems as though he is poised to break the record against the Grizzlies in Memphis on Wednesday night.
Is Westbrook having the greatest individual season in NBA history? I say no, because of the level of his team’s success and his efficiency levels, 42% shooting from the field with a high turnover rate, but it is up for debate.
