If you’re a Timberwolves fan, you have to be excited about the team’s future. You have to believe that next year will be the year this core breaks through and makes a legitimate run at the playoffs. If not, they aren’t far from it. Given all the franchise has gone through lately, namely with the untimely passing of Flip Saunders, they deserve it.
But will Sam Mitchell be around for this? Mitchell has been the Wolves interim coach this season, but the team will launch a formal coaching search this summer. That search will include Mitchell.
The Minnesota Timberwolves are planning to engage in a coaching search that will include interim coach Sam Mitchell as part of the process, league sources told The Vertical.
The Timberwolves are targeting the elite coaches on the market, including Jeff Van Gundy, Tom Thibodeau and Scott Brooks, league sources said.
