Kevin Durant made his annual trip to his backyard to take on the Wizards. Whenever this is the case, the talk will be about his pending free agency. But on this night, the talk was more about Durant’s latest injury.
KD left the game in the first half with a strained hamstring and did not return. However, the Thunder were able to hang on 125-101.
It happened when Kris Humphries fouled him on the way to the basket at the end of the second quarter. Durant did not return from the locker room after halftime.
“I think right now it’s just a hamstring strain,” Oklahoma City coach Billy Donovan said after the game. “I didn’t really get a chance to talk to the medical staff too much.”
“How severe it is, I have no idea. The impression I got is it’s not. So we’ll have a couple of days here to get back and we’ll find out a little bit more tomorrow where he’s at.”
If there’s any sort of silver lining to take out of this for Durant’s it’s that the questions Kevin Durant received from reporters were about his injury, rather than his free agency thoughts. He’s made it clear that he’s tired of talking about free agency, so I’m sure this change was somewhat welcomed.
