Just this past weekend, Lincoln HS in Brooklyn retired the high school jersey of 2009 alumni Lance Stephenson of the Indiana Pacers. For this event, AND1 created a one-off pair of their classic Tai Chi sneaker.
For the former Railsplitter, a mostly navy upper surrounded by white tumbled leather features Stephenson’s face on the tongue with “PSAL Championship” above his head. Other details include a Lincoln HS with train logo & 2,956 points lazered on the lateral(outside) along with Lance’s LS1 logo stitched in silver on the back of both pairs.
Those unfamiliar, the And1 Tai Chi first released in 2000 during the height of the And1 streetball mixtape popularity. Brooklyn, NY’s Lincoln High School served as the school Ray Allen went to when he played Jesus Shuttlesworth in He Got Game; a Spike Lee Joint.
This isn’t the first time that Lance Stephenson received a Player Exclusive of the Tai Chi in this colorway. During this past NBA Playoff series between his Indiana Pacers and the repeating champion Miami Heat, he got a black/yellow pair to go along with a white/navy just without the lasered details.
