If you like Bill Walton and find him entertaining raise your hand! I’m going to assume about half of you had your hands up and the other half were doing a near violent shaking of your head in a ‘NO’ fashion. Quite a few of my boyz absolutely hate listening to the man over exaggerate virtually everything he says in a comical manner. Personally, I love it. The man adds color and excitement to some of the most boring of games, and certainly helps build the hype for the already prime time match ups.
During the Toyota Half-time Show of last night’s Celtics vs. Hawks matchup on ESPN, Bill Walton and Stuart Scott were discussing this seasons early and frequent firing of NBA head coaches. I completely agree with Bill on the fact that Coaches are being used a little too easily as the scape goat for a team’s problems. At the very least, the franchise General Manager’s should have to take some of the heat for assembling a team that can’t get it done on the court.
Sure the Coach is partially responsible, however the recent trend towards firing coaches on losing teams within a month or two of starting a season will quickly lose it’s validity with fans and eventually they will start pointing the fingers elsewhere. As Bill says in the following video, maybe the team owners should start firing the GM’s and keeping the coaches!?
