Playing for Team USA is a bigger commitment than fans think. Playing basketball at a high level year-round can really take a toll on your body. Especially when you play as much as LeBron James does. The rest during the summer is much needed, I’m sure.
This is probably why he hasn’t made a decision on whether or not he’ll suit up next summer in Brazil for the Olympics. But Jerry Colangelo is hopeful James will make his presence felt.
“I think LeBron wants to be part of it,” USA Basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo said in an interview on Sirius XM NBA Radio. “You know, when you talk about LeBron, Dwyane Wade, Amar’e Stoudemire and Carmelo [Anthony], they were the four young players who were, what, 19 years old, 20 at the best, who were added to the roster when some people dropped out at the last minute.”
