Hawks Re-Sign PF Elton Brand

brandThe Atlanta Hawks have re-signed two-time all-star power forward Elton Brand to a one year, $2 million dollar contract, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.

Brand, 35, produced 5.7 points and 4.9 rebounds in an average of 19 minutes per game last season for the Hawks. Despite his growing age, he can still be considered as one of the reliable big men left out there, which is why they made this move.

The 6-foot-10 veteran can still knock down those mid-range jumpers with precision and continue to be a pest in grabbing those rebounds every game. In addition, his experience and leadership may prove to be beneficial for the team as he can definitely serve as a good mentor with the current roster full of youngsters.

Unfortunately, Brand doesn’t have the capacity to be an impact player, but his addition can surely lead to a few more wins for the Hawks in the upcoming 2014-15 season.

Throughout his 15-year career, he has averaged 16.6 points, 8.8 rebounds and 1.8 blocks.
