DeMarcus Cousins is the classic example of “is he worth the headache?” He has all the talent in the world to be one of the premier big men in the NBA for years to come, but he comes with baggage.
Despite that, Team USA is willing to overlook that, give him the benefit of the doubt, and invite him to minicamp with a chance and landing a roster spot. If he can just keep his head on straight, sky’s the limit for Big Cuz.
After much debate among USA Basketball executives, a source said, Cousins, 22, was extended an invite to take part in the minicamp with a chance to land a spot on Team USA.
“You bury the past and go forward,” Colangelo said. “He’s invited and he’s definitely on the list. New year, new summer, new opportunity.”
