Former Bull Stacey King Can Rhyme [Video]

March 19, 2010 – Allen Moll

I’m sure you remember Stacey King. You know, the former Oklahoma star, who had the good fortune of being drafted by the Chicago Bulls during the Jordan era, circa 1989, and went on to win 3 NBA Titles? King was part of that Bulls draft which also brought Chicago their starter at point guard in BJ Armstrong. King was the guy who backed up the ancient Bill Cartwright at center, even though he was the better player. Actually, he was a very reliable role player for the Bulls, providing valuable scoring and rebounding off the bench, until he was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves during the ’93-’94 season for the 7’2, Australian born, Luc Longley(Ugh, what a deal).

Upon his retirement from basketball after the ’97 season, King has gone on to become a really good commentator for Comcast Sportsnet in Chicago, broadcasting Bulls games. By dumb luck, I stumbled across this youtube video of Stacey King doing a spoof of the now popular NBA Defense commercial by free-styling to video of Derrick Rose highlights. Maybe he has a future in hip-hop?
