‘White Chocolate’ Jason Williams decides to Retire from the NBA!

September 27, 2008 – Dr. Dime
The title of this post is no joke people. After a very shocking rumor started to circulate yesterday that Los Angeles Clippers point guard Jason ‘White Chocolate’ Williams was considering hanging em’ up for good, I was completely shocked. It has now been confirmed that Williams really is about to announce that he has decided to quit playing professional basketball. Some sources yesterday believed he may be considering going to play pro ball in Europe, but today the word we have received is J-Will will be ending his pro playing career altogether.
At only 33 years old, and having just signed in August with the L.A. Clippers to play back-up point guard to Clippers new acquisition Baron Davis, Williams has shockingly decided to retire. I’ve always been a huge Jason Williams fan. Sure he was dogged by criticism early in his career for being too flashy and taking too many risks, but what people often overlooked was how effective he was at making those flashy passes and how many of them resulted in easy buckets for his teammates. Williams finally silenced his critics questioning his shot selection and ability to be a team leader by being the starting point guard for the Miami Heat during their 2006 Championship run.
Although Williams has had on and off troubles with tendonitis in his knees over the past few years, he was thought to be pretty healthy heading into the new season so it adds to the shock factor in his decided to retire.
If we’ve seen the last of J-Will on the NBA hardwood, let Dr. Dime be the first to say we’ll all miss the flashy Dimes and Handles. Be Good J-Will!

I was a big J-Will fan when he was with the Kings. The guy was fun to watch. But I eventually tired of his tendency to pull up behind the arc when he had numbers on the break.
He still took terrible shots when he was with Miami. But he was great at getting the ball to Shaq in the post.
I’m not a fan of And 1 basketball. But I’d love to see J-Will play a few exhibition games with some ’streetballers.’ I bet he still has a few tricks up his sleeve.
Hey Brandon that’s true J-Will may have taken some bad pull up jumpers but he made a pretty decent percentage too. but also he would get the crowd and team motivated by highlight reel plays.
I agree with you that he would be good on streetball league.
I am forever a devout JWill fan. He is my favorite player in basketball history. Over Jordan, Reggie, Charles….. everybody. There is not another point guard on the planet, including Steve Nash who could fill Espn with non stop highlights that we will never witness again, to saving a miserable franchise in Memphis (no coincidence they sucked again after he left) to running a very disciplined offense with other stars and running triumphantly off an NBA basketball court as a champion. Screw the streetballers. His niche is taking floundering environments to soaring heights. I am thinking Harlem Globetrotters! Or coaching. After all, he has tutored under Rick Adelman, Hubie Brown and Pat Riley.
Ya jwill is definetly one of my top favorite players of all time, and one of the only role players in the league that i can really root for, this f**king SUCKS he would have killed it on the clippers behind davis and with davis and that team, hopefully he decides to comeback he still has his best basketball ahead of him…
Yes, J-will is my favorite players same with you all… i think i will be watch him play with baron, camby, and the other squad of clippers but he already retires from NBA… i will missing no look pass from him…. Byee J-will…
JWill was the reason I started watching basketball again after Michael Jordan retired. JWill was sure fun to watch with his behind the back passes and so on. I’m glad I got to see him play a few games out here in Denver but one time, I bought my son and his best friend really good seats and JWill missed the game because of a migraine. He wasn’t even in the building so that kinda stunk but my kid had a Williams jersey, #55, when he played for the Kings. That was fun. We all wore purple crowns to the game. Good luck, man.
Jason WIlliams rocks…
