Writing thank you notes to an NBA city and its fans after your playing days are over have been common practice in the NBA for star-caliber players for some time.
Especially when that player starred for a franchise for a half a decade or more.
Carmelo Anthony felt the need to thank Oklahoma City fans after one underwhelming season.

While the letter seems a little silly after the Thunder ousted him after one season, it does feel genuine from Carmelo and it does seem like he wanted it to work with the Thunder, and he is yet another player commenting on how special and supportive the fans are.
OKC was Carmelo’s first short trip on a career that has lasted 15 years to this point, we’ll see if his stay in Houston is any longer.
