In a situation that we don’t see occur very often for an indoor sport, the Pacers-Pelicans game in New Orleans was cancelled Wednesday night because of a rain delay of sorts.
The Smoothie King Center roof was leaking and arena crew were unable to keep the floor dry for a few hours, which led to the NBA deciding to postpone the game until further notice.
“The National Basketball Association game scheduled for tonight between the New Orleans Pelicans and Indiana Pacers has been postponed due to a leak in the roof at Smoothie King Center.
The date for the rescheduled game will be announced at a later time.”
Blame it on the roof. https://t.co/2Pw0HC04Ej

The NBA reportedly will refund the price of any tickets purchased by fans for the game as they should. As a fantasy basketball player that has two Pacers players and one Pelican, I was frustrated as well.
Here are the dates in which both teams could make up the game over the next couple months (when neither team plays and the Smoothie King Center is available):
Feb. 8
Feb. 13
Feb. 15
Feb. 22
Feb. 27
March 1
March 8
March 12
March 14
March 16
March 21
March 26
March 28
March 31
April 2
Can’t they just make up the game on Thursday night? Neither team plays but the Pelicans have to be in Philadelphia on Friday and the Pacers have to be in Boston.
It is not very often that you see an NBA game cancelled, thankfully the schedule is pretty spaced out these days and teams don’t play once a week like they do in the NFL so there should be plenty of chances to make the game up.
