Anthony Davis Loses Mind, Gets First Career Ejection

I officially proclaim this “Ejection Week” in the NBA as two of the league biggest stars got ejected for the first time in their careers in consecutive nights.

A night after LeBron James got ejected in the 4th quarter of a blowout win over the Miami Heat, which resulted in countless memes and videos and more shade from Enes Kanter (let it go Enes), Anthony Davis figured he would one up King James by completely losing his mind in the 2nd quarter of the Pelicans disappointing 120-102 home loss to the T’Wolves on Wednesday night.

Davis has been jawing at the referees for minutes at the lack of calls he was getting on the offensive end (he had a point, he was getting fouled a lot) and finally received a technical after going 75% crazy after not getting a call on a shot around the rim while heading down court which led to his first technical.

Then on the very next possession, he was called for somewhat of a ticky-tack foul as he blocked Karl Anthony-Towns shot on a lay-up and officially lost his mind. This video shows the entire sequence…

The Pelicans instantly fell apart and found themselves down by 13 at halftime and built a hole they couldn’t recover from. A pretty disappointing loss considering they were coming in off of three days rest and were playing a T’Wolves team that was on a back-to-back and its third game in four nights (they hurt my wallet as well if you know what I mean…).

Davis is typically a pretty even-keeled player so it was a little disorienting to see him being held back repeatedly by his much more mercurial partner-in-crime DeMarcus Cousins, who is much more familiar with these sort of outbursts.

We’ll see if Davis receives any fine or suspension for the ejection, I doubt it.
