The buyout market continues to be more active and interesting than the final 24 hours of the trade deadline was, as another title contender is looking to add a veteran guard to their roster.
It appears the latest buyout asset projected to hit the market will be Los Angeles Lakers veteran point guard Jose Calderon, and the Warriors are angling to add him to their roster.
Golden State has emerged as the strong favorite to sign vet guard Jose Calderon if he secures a buyout from the Lakers, league sources say.

Here is Monte Pool of CSN Bay Area’s report on the Warriors desire to claim him if he is waived.
Calderon is in the process to be bought out by the Lakers, after which he will become a free agent. Once he clears waivers, the Warriors, according to multiple sources, will be waiting to offer a physical examination and a contract.
Calderon is averaging 3.3 points and 2.2 assists in 24 appearances this season.
At 35, Calderon hasn’t been an effective or starting caliber point guard for almost three years now as his low level of athleticism and quickness by NBA point guard standards has become even more of a liability. He has aged and realistically he will be able to provide little more than some basketball I.Q. and catch and shoot ability in very spot minutes for a Warriors team.
In all reality, the young point guard the Warriors recently released, Briante Weber, would probably be able to provide more energy and production for the Warriors during their impending playoff run, but the Warriors have opted for Calderon’s shooting and experience instead.
