Unless you have been living under a rock or are a very unlucky soul, you have probably seen Kyrie Irving’s alter-ego, aging baller and basketball sage “Uncle Drew”.
Irving portrays Drew in a number of Pepsi Max advertisements and like some other NBA ad campaigns in the past (Larry Johnson as Grandmama anyone?) the character and the campaign has really taken off. It has even included cameos from other NBA players, NBA legends and even a few actors.
According to ESPN Sports Business Reporter Darren Rovell, the Uncle Drew phenomenon is headed for the big screen as there will be an Uncle Drew movie.

No release date has been determined, but there is already a writer and spoiler alert. The plot appears to be Drew getting the crew back together for one last hurrah. You can expect plenty of NBA players in old man make-up with hilarious alter-egos, which is always entertaining in my book.
There will also be a pop-up shop at the NBA All-Star Weekend in New Orleans that will promote limited edition Uncle Drew merchandise.

While this is all silly and ridiculous advertising and product placement (you can expect Pepsi to be everywhere) to the tenth degree, it is still a fun idea and I am not ashamed to admit I will find a way to watch it myself.
If you have not been introduced to Uncle Drew, please enjoy…
