While I think Boogie is an apt and wonderful nickname for the supremely gifted, highly mercurial Demarcus Cousins, not everyone agrees.
Los Angeles Clippers Head Coach Doc Rivers for instance, is not on the Boogie train one could say.
When Rivers was asked about the Pelicans trade for Cousins on Saturday he seemed more interested in finding out if Cousins actually goes by “Boogie” voicing his displeasure with the nickname and how odd it feels for him to say it apparently.
Doc Rivers wondered if DeMarcus Cousins officially goes by Boogie now. "I'm 55. It's tough for me to call a grown man 'Boogie.'"

Although Rivers may not be feeling the Boogie moniker, we have to admit there are much worse nicknames in professional sports, I mean as a fan of basketball in the early 2000s we had to suffer through the first name initial, shortened last name nickname epidemic, T-Mac, C-Webb, J-Will, J-Kidd etc. I think a name like Boogie is a step up and apt for the player and personality that Cousins is.
Can we get Kevin Durant to just embrace the Slim Reaper nickname already and bring it back from the dead (pun intended)?
