Dwyane Wade’s departure from Miami still feels unreal. He had always dubbed himself a “Heat Lifer,” but this can be an unpredictable business. He did not feel as if the team wanted him back nearly as much as they should. Perhaps Pat Riley took for granted that Wade wouldn’t bolt, but boy was he wrong.
In Chicago, Wade is a big reason for the Bulls’ strong start. They came out of the gate 3-0 (best start since the Jordan days), and he’s shooting 3s at a much higher clip than he ever has.
But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t still reflect on his Miami days and what it would’ve meant to him to spend his entire career in South Florida.
“I thought it was an opportunity I would be there forever, but s–t happens,” Wade said in an exclusive interview with CSNChicago.com after the Bulls’ 112-80 win over the Orlando Magic on Monday night “And when s–t happens, you gotta be prepared to (move on). I found out very quickly that this is a business.”
