If you scratched your head upon finding out that Ron Artest was planning on changing his name to Metta World Peace, you weren’t the only one. In fact, if you’ve come across someone who likes the change, you’re more than likely in the minority. And if you thought the name change was ridiculous, Magic Johnson agrees with you.
Earlier last week, Magic was a guest on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. The funny part about the video is that Jay asks Magic a series of NBA related questions, to which Magic cannot answer in fear of going out like Michael Jordan. Because he is associated with an NBA team, he pretty much can’t say anything. But he can certainly talk about Artest’s Dancing with the Stars exploits and name change. I expected Magic to gently express his distaste with Artest’s name change, but I guess there’s no polite way to do that when you think about it. He left nothing to the imagination regarding his feelings on the name change.
