Westbrook Ends a 19 Year NBA Drought

In Oklahoma City’s Game 7 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday afternoon, Russell Westbrook recorded the first triple double in a game seven since 1992.

Westbrook finished with 14 points, 14 assists and ten rebounds. Scottie Pippen accomplished the feat in a 1992 conference semifinal game against the New York Knicks. Pippen finished with 17 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists.

While Westbrook still has plenty of work to do to become the sidekick that Scottie Pippen was, he is certainly on the right track. Westbrook was criticized earlier in the postseason for his shot selection. Westbrook temporarily silenced his critics after his spectacular, well rounded performance on Sunday.

The young Thunder are growing up before our very eyes. The team is now only four wins away from the NBA Finals.
