The New Jersey Nets are en route to possibly breaking the record for the worst team to ever take the floor in NBA history! That is a whole new level of futility if you ask me. Currently sitting at 7-63, with 12 games left, the Nets need to win at least 2 more games to avoid breaking the record held by the 1972-73 Philadelphia 76ers who went 9-73.
So you’ll have to excuse what is left of the New Jersey Nets fans for any ‘questionable’ behavior they might display at this point in the season. God forbid Nets Executives would want to further alienate what is remaining of their game attendees who come to see their beloved Nets get slaughtered night in and night out.
Or maybe not…..
The New Jersey Nets’ sad-sack season appeared to hit another low Monday night when CEO Brett Yormark shouted at a fan wearing a paper bag over his head.
Yormark left his courtside seat at the IZOD Center late in the second half of New Jersey’s 99-89 loss to the Miami Heat. Yormark then doubled back toward the fan, identified by the New York Daily News as Chris Lisi of Middletown, N.J.
It was at that point that Yormark, Lisi and a friend of Lisi’s got into a shouting match with reporters and photographers nearby.
Lisi told the Daily News that the CEO initiated the exchange by asking him why he had a bag on his head. Lisi’s response — “because the Nets are so good,” according to the paper. Yormark then snapped at him and walked off, Lisi told the Daily News. {via ESPN}
I love the fan’s response. Without skipping a beat, the sarcasm comes shining through. Right through the paper bag on his head and all.
Every time I watch the Nets play these days, all I can think is ‘Poor John Wall’. Then again if you follow the train of thought you think happy thoughts for Devin Harris, who if the Nets get the #1 pick in the 2010 NBA Draft, will likely get moved to a team that can’t even possibly be as poor as this Nets squad.
