Nets Expected to Pursue J.J. Reddick

The Brooklyn Nets may finally be back on the way up after putting themselves in possibly the worst position imaginable for a franchise with their questionable decisions in their pursuit to be a contender.

Now that they have cleared out all of their large or bad contracts and obtained oodles of cap flexibility to take on a big contract in Timofey Mozgov and acquire a potential star in D’Angelo Russell (I still believe it’s possible) things appear to be looking up at least the smallest bit.

Their next order of business now that they have a young talent to build around is to try and use their space to become a better team in 2017-18, especially considering they are without their first round pick for one more season, and they apparently want to do so by pursuing free agent sharpshooter J.J. Reddick.

Here is an excerpt from a story in the New York Post:

“Lewis adds that Redick owns an apartment in Brooklyn and has been working out with Jeremy Lin. Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical said back in May that the 76ers are the favorites to sign Redick, but it’s worth noting that the Nets have a ton of cap space to make a competitive offer as well. Redick could command $18-$20 million per season based on previous reports, so it seems like a near lock that he won’t return to Los Angeles.”

While Philly makes a lot of sense, don’t count out the Nets and the appeal of playing in Brooklyn for J.J. Reddick.

Reddick would be a good addition to a Nets team now in search of veteran leadership and experience.
