Get Pumped Miami Heat Fans (Maybe): Chris Bosh Is Hooping

Chris Bosh is still focused on returning to the Miami Heat.

The All-Star forward has missed the end of the last two seasons with blood clot issues. His future in the NBA, and with the Heat, has since been in doubt. But despite all the existing skepticism, Bosh remains committed to getting back on the hardwood. He cleared that much up on Snapchat, per Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel:

In the clearest indication in months of his desire and intention to return to the court this season, Miami Heat forward Chris Bosh on Monday posted videos on his Snapchat that showed him going through drill work on a court in a gym, with his wife posting on social media that her husband will be back on the court this season.

“I know I’ve been gone for a moment, but now I’m back,” Bosh said on one of his videos. “Everybody is always asking me am I hooping? Yes, I’m hooping. Absolutely. I’m a hooper.”

Bosh remains the Heat’s highest paid player and is the only member left of the Big Three he formed with LeBron James and Dwyane Wade. His long-term future in Miami, even if he’s able to play, is hardly guaranteed. As the Heat look to get younger, a 32-year-old Bosh may not factor into the big-picture.

Still, sources told ESPN.com’s Michael Wallace that Bosh is “preparing to be available when training camp opens on Sept. 27 and expects to be medically cleared to rejoin the team.” That comes as good news, no doubt, but Bosh’s status has included overzealous optimism in the past.

Whatever you might think of his fit with the Heat, seeing him return, free from any underlying risks, is the best possible outcome to this situation. Bosh isn’t being traded, and the Heat could certainly use an All-Star still in his prime if they hope to make anything of their first season without Wade.
