Lebron James Gets Warmed up for Dunk Contest

Lebron James Dunk Contest

April 14, 2009 – Dr. Anklesnap

Lebron James has been lighting up the league all season long. He’s also brought the Cavaliers to the very top of the NBA with the best record. But to add to that he also made a promise at All-star Weekend this year that has set the fan boards on fire. He will be entering the 2010 NBA Slam Dunk Contest. For a contest that has seen it’s popularity flounder the last few years with many people calling it too “gimmicky”, Lebron is certainly the man to rejuvenate it’s popularity.

The question many people are asking is, what dunks will Lebron do? Although i’m sure he’s keeping his secrets close to his chest, in warm ups this week Lebron gave the crowd a little teaser of just what he’s capable of. The dunk below off where he puts the ball behind his back, under his leg, then off the backboard takes the speed, power, timing, and co-ordination that only a guard with serious hops could do. Then there’s Lebron James. What do you think of this dunk? Is it dunk contest material?

(H/T to NESW Sports for giving us the heads up to the YouTube video)

I can’t believe what I just saw. So casually too.

    That’s disturbing.

gonna need more than Lebron to bring the dunk contest back from certain death.

    hi.

He’s a powerful guy, but does not have the agility nor the finesse to be an all-time great dunker. Also, he may want to get over himself a bit. It’s hard to cheer for someone whose #1 goal is to promote himself.

    Wow that was nice.

Nothing wrong with promoting yourself either when you’re one of the best passers on your team. Lebron is a team player a lot more than a lot of other flashy NBA players.

so he adds a spin move to a basic off the glass dunk? ya lets hype him up some more please.. nate robinsons 50 million attempts were better than that

Well you have to give him more cred for it because i can dunk, but to do a high jump to windmill it under your legs, just before you dunk it takes skill, because you have to have enough space to land and recover your balance before you go up to catch it off of a backboard to dunk it, So i say don’t knock before you try it. And i like like lebron in that he is a team player even though he doesn’t have to be.
