Video: Lebron James Dunks on Entire Atlanta Hawks Team

Lebron James can’t be a human being. Either that or he is some highly evolved version of a human being that is way ahead of his time. He is my clear favorite right now in the race to the 2009 MVP award. Not only is he putting up ridiculous stats night in and night out, but his Cleveland Cavaliers are also winning at a high percentage and looking like one of the top 2 or 3 teams in the Eastern Conference.

LBJ had multiple ‘eye-popping’ plays in tonight’s Cavaliers 110-96 win over the Atlanta Hawks, however there were two that stuck out in my mind as indicative of how far above the rest of the star players Lebron is in the area of athleticism. The first play in question he drove hard to the cup on Al Horford and Solomon Jones and was fouled hard by both big men. Not only did Lebron still score the bucket for the And1, but the score was a vicious dunk with his off-hand. That’s sooo not right, sooo sick!

On the second ‘eye-popping’ play, Lebron drives to the cup on Maurice Evans, he cups the ball and fakes a behind the back pass, then continues to the rim for a huge tomahawk dunk. It’s the type of play you’d normally see from a flashy point guard for a lay-up at best. But for Lebron it’s a highlight reel dunk. If you missed the game, here is video footage of both plays:

Sorry bud, but LeBron is the best player in the game now, and it isn’t even all that close. He was the best player in the league last year too. Matter of fact, given his dominance on D and the way he has started to hit free throws, he’s better right now than Kobe has been at any point in his entire career. FACT.

haha I doubt LeBron will ever be as good as Kobe in his prime. Perhaps in 5 years when LeBron is in his, while Kobe is towards the end of his career at 35, you can say LeBron is the better player. It is unlikely LeBron will become the all-around player Kobe is, nor will he become the offensive machine Kobe was in 05-06 and 06-07. 62 points in three quarters, 81 points in one game, 4 straight 50+ games… need I say more? Kobe did ball-hog, yes. But tell anyone else in the league to ball-hog. They still can’t pull off what Kobe did those two years. LeBron can’t even score 60.

Kobe has a better offensive repertoire (the best in the game), he’s in the All-Defensive 1st Team (three consecutive years and counting), and is the reigning MVP. For good reason too. I don’t see LeBron anywhere in the All-Defensive Teams. So tell me, how is LeBron the better all-around player?

to be a good player doesn’t necessary have to be defined by how high you fly but by tactifully you maneauver your self with the ball through the defense andbe able to score. With no doubt, Kobe has been able to do just that. He is all round player who arguably has not match at least now. On the other hand, James Lebrown has not been consistence in his ability. Make alot of turnovers, bad free throws, to mention the few. I know alot of people are just driven by their personal opinion than looking through magnify lenses.

Kobe was for the past several years, and still is, the best player in the game right now. I admit LeBron is getting better by the year, and Kobe is only getting older, but Kobe is still in his prime. He just turned 30, he should be able to keep up his high level of play for at least the next 2-3 years. I’m willing to concede the “best player” title to LeBron in the coming years as I continue to watch and enjoy the game, but as of right now it’s no dice. Kobe is the better all-around player. LeBron can drive and dunk all he wants, it doesn’t change the fact his game lacks the variety that Kobe possesses.

Lebron is the better all around player…Lebron is a better passer…and a better rebounder…and if Lebron ball hogged like Kobe did…I’m sure he could get his 60 too…but lets not forget…Kobe came up under the wing of the big fella…and had a couple of years to get his game together before he was called on to be a leader…Lebron has been the leader of his team from day 1…

James is tough, I’m not sure how tough Bryant is, though playing the last 8 months or so with a mangled finger is fairly tough.

Kobe’s J is something else, though. Can’t see anyone else matching that.

LeBron took the Cavs to the finals in a weak eastern conference in ’07. And what happened? They couldn’t even get one game.

And no matter how much LeBron ball-hogs (it’s not like he hasn’t before) he’ll never replicate the offensive greatness of Kobe. Like I noted before, LeBron will never do something the likes of an 81 point game, 62 in three quarters, or 4 straight 50+ point games. Kobe is the greatest scorer the game has EVEN seen. Plus his defense is top-notch (3 consecutive years of All-Defensive 1st Team and counting; overall 6 All-Defensive 1st Team). LeBron’s defense is still questionable, and his “J” is no where the level of Kobe’s.

LeBron is second fiddle to Kobe.

lbj not better jumper than kobe but gets way more trip dubs than kobe…kobe(black mamba), pao(vet)-fischer(vet)-odom(vet)vujacic(3 ball)-artest(vet) sure put a bunch of people who have been there before and actually know how to step up to pressure and its kinda easy to see why kobe can be so good. sure he can put up points but not when he is ACTUALLY guarded. you cant expect to just put a hand in his face as so many people try to do you need to be physical with him and see how much he doesnt attempt to score but when that happens his teammates show up…LBJ(king) zydrunis ilgauskus (old man) Shaq (old man) (still puts up numbers but time is running out) jamario moon (new school probly not too good under pressure) mo williams and anthony parker–they are solid but not star nor veteran quality. the reason lbj doesnt put up 60 points (he has had multiple games of 50+ by the way “kobe”) is because he is getting double and triple teamed and even when that happens he still somehow seems to dunk on people. when he is getting double and triple teamed her enlies the problem he will pass out of it and nothing will happen. missed shot, turnover, name it. the only reason the magic beat us last year was because they were hitting 3′s left and right sure it might have been a lack of D or the fact that sometimes we didnt have an answer for howard but even when we shut howard down they just hit stupid 3′s and they will never shoot that good again. to sum it up, lbj needs an actual star…jordan had pippen…kobe had shaq and im talking the younger shaq not the shaq on the cavs today…in my own opinion i think cleveland teams are just straight cursed…we always get there and never finish..but i guarentee if we got one more person for lebron to go to that can handle pressure this whole kobe talk would be settled once and for all. sure he doesnt have any rings…but he never had the supporting cast to get those rings either. you need to take that into consideration when talking about RINGS. but better overall player=lbj he is a one man team when he has to be..better jumper goes to kobe though he makes some really ignorant shots just stupid crazy. best supporting cast goes to the celtics though…how you put paul peirce kg and ray allen on the same team and dont win a champoinship every year is beyond me especially when rhondo is stepping up lately. well ive had my say…go browns!
