Andre Iguodala is the often overlooked glue guy for the Golden State Warriors that really symbolizes their rise to prominence and exemplifies the sacrifice and non-egotistical mentality that has allowed the Warriors to build one of the greatest teams in NBA history.
While he may not impress in the box score these days, his varied talents, ability to guard multiple positions, and offensive punch when needed (rarely) have been paramount to what the Warriors have built over the past 5 years. Some may forget he was the NBA Finals MVP when they won the NBA title in 2015.
He is a free agent this summer, and because of everything mentioned, even with non-impressive stats in the box score and being 33 years of age, many teams are interested in his services.
According to an ESPN report, he is expected to receive serious interest from a number of teams including the Hawks, Timberwolves and Suns.
Re-signing Iguodala may be very difficult for the Warriors as they try to maneuver and lock up Steph Curry and Kevin Durant to max deals, which would likely require them renouncing their rights to Iguodala and re-signing him to a steep discount compared to what he may receive on the open market.
One can only imagine his value will go up in the next couple weeks as he will be given a larger role and tasked predominately with guarding the best player in the world yet again on the NBA’s biggest stage.
Iguodala has shown his selflessness and willingness to do whatever it takes to win these past few years. He may do it again this summer, especially if he has another ring on his finger to show for it.
