According to a story from the Basketball Insiders Reporter Alex Kennedy, former Seattle Sonic, Cleveland Cavalier and Atlanta Hawk (among a million other teams) Rondald “Flip” Murray is attempting to make an NBA comeback.

Murray will be 37 on Friday and hasn’t appeared in an NBA game since 2010 as a member of the Chicago Bulls.

He averaged 9.9 points, 2.3 assists and 2.1 rebounds in nine NBA seasons and played for an incredible eight NBA teams (Bucks, Bulls, Cavs, Hawks, Pistons, Pacers, Bobcats and Sonics) the mark of a true NBA journeyman.

His last appearance on an NBA roster was for the Memphis Grizzlies with whom he signed with on October 1, 2012 and was released from before the 2012-13 season began.

He has played in Turkey, Ukraine and Lebanon since then but he feels ready and poised to make an NBA return.

He also played for the Austin Toros of the NBA Developmental League and averaged 21.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.9 steals while helping lead them to a D-League championship in 2012.

He is a part of a large group of former players who played in the “Basketball Tournament” that airs on ESPN and awards $2 million to the winning team.

Murray was known for his ability to be an instant offense in limited minutes for an NBA team. Jamal Crawford is proof at the age of 36 that a player in their mid to late 30s can be still provide that value to a team if they can put the ball in the hoop.

We’ll see if he is able to get a training camp invite.
