Barnes on Staying with Warriors: It’s Out of My Control

Harrison Barnes

All of the pieces of the Warriors roster fits nicely, and that goes for unsung heroes as well. Harrison Barnes plays his role for the team very well despite not being one of the most talked-about players.

On July 1, Barnes becomes a restricted free agent. The Warriors have made it no secret that they’d like to land Kevin Durant, and that would probably mean that Barnes is the odd man out. That scenario is very far fetched, but not completely out of the questions. If Durant-to-Golden State starts to look like a thing, the Warriors likely wouldn’t match whatever offer Barnes receives for another potential suitor.

Barnes would like to stay, be he understands the business.

Harrison Barnes, for example. He will be a restricted free agent on July 1 and plays the same position as Durant, small forward. Barnes would love to stay. But asked if he thinks he is staying, he said: “Assuming no one else chooses to sign here?” […] “It’s out of my control,” Barnes said. “People say, ‘Do you want to be here in Golden State?’ A lot of it is, look, I love Golden State. I’d love to be here. But there’s also some other factors that factor into that, you know what I’m saying?”
