Just barely 6 weeks after being bought out by the Brooklyn Nets for a reported $27 million and signing a 2 year-$10 million deal to play for the Dallas Mavericks going forward, former 3 time NBA All Star Deron Williams has apparently decided to cut all ties with the New York metropolitan area, listing his massive 7,200 Tribeca condo for a whopping $33.5 million.
Williams and his wife Amy just bought the 6 bedroom, 6.5 bathroom luxury pad back in 2013 that features an amazing 3,500 feet of outdoor space, making tons of additions and alterations, including combining 2 Grand apartments into one massive residence, adding 3 separate living areas, a floating staircase, and a full floor to ceiling stainless steel kitchen.
Both North and South wings feature 17 foot high vaulted ceilings, a custom kitchen featuring 2 industrial sized refrigerators, walls of 50′ windows with magnificent views of the Manhattan skyline, and a 300 bottle glass enclosed, climate controlled wine cellar.
After establishing himself as one of the NBA’s top point guards in the mid 2000’s, making the All NBA 2nd Team twice, and taking the Utah Jazz to the Western Conference Finals in 2007, the former #3 overall Draft pick was traded to the Nets in 2011 after a disagreement with longtime Jazz coach Jerry Sloan that ultimately led to his resignation.
Williams’ time with Brooklyn gave the organization a true superstar as they moved from New Jersey to Brooklyn but his production fell from his his accustomed to All Star caliber numbers, putting up just 16.6 points and 7.5 assists in 277 games with the Nets, in contrast to averaging 10+ assists in 3 consecutive seasons in Utah.
The former University of Illinois product is looking for a more than $17 million profit on his initial investment meaning anyone looking to purchase the penthouse is looking at a monthly mortgage of just over 150,000 per month.
