Another point guard in the league went down with an injury this week, as the Boston Celtics have announced that their rookie guard Marcus Smart is expected to be sidelined for approximately 2-3 weeks after spraining his left ankle in their victory against the Indiana Pacers Friday night.
He was driving down the lane on a fast break when he rolled his left ankle after getting fouled. From that moment, the injury looked quite serious as he had to be moved out on a stretcher to be evaluated in the locker room. On a positive note, it’s only a sprain and no broken bones were seen from the X-rays.
Celtics say rookie guard Marcus Smart has a left ankle sprain with bone bruising. He is expected to be out for the next two to three weeks.

With Smart joining Rajon Rondo on the sidelines, the Celtics will have to fight it out the next couple of games without their lead point guards, and Avery Bradley and Evan Turner will have no choice but to help with the ball-handling duties for the time being.
Throughout his first four games for the Celtics, Smart is averaging 7.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 steals over 21.5 minutes of playing time.
