Nick Young Sidelined for 6-8 Weeks Due to Thumb Injury

nickyoungThe new season hasn’t even started yet and the Los Angeles Lakers have already started to fill out the injury list as their leading scorer last season—Nick Young recently sprained his right thumb during practice, according to Mike Bresnahan of the LA Times.

Young, 29, signed a four-year, $21.5 million contract in July to remain with the team and so far he’s been looking really good and more motivated than ever for the start of the season. But unfortunately, Lakers fans will have to wait a little longer to see Swaggy P back on the court again.

After going through an MRI, the results were negative as he tore a ligament in his right thumb. He’ll be undergoing surgery for this on Monday.

This is truly very bad news for LaLa land, as Young is a vital key for the Lakers success this coming season. Other players will have to fill in the void for the time being and take this opportunity to make a name for their selves. The likes of Julius Randle, Jeremy Lin, and Jordan Clarkson can certainly provide that offensive boost off the bench.

Despite this early injury, it’s way too early to judge the Lakers as we all know there’s guy named Kobe Bryant on their team.

So don’t worry too much Lakers fans.
