It was initially reported that Dirk Nowitzki would take a pay cut and re-sign with the Mavs for 3-years, $30 million in order to give the team some flexibility. It was actually lower than that, as he’s on board for $25 million over 3 seasons. All so the team could fit in Chandler Parsons.
What’s interesting is that Dirk was offered max deals from both the Rockets and Lakers.
Marc Stein of ESPN.com is reporting that despite max offers from both the Rockets and the Lakers during free agency, Nowitzki has agreed to a three-year deal that will pay him $25 million. He was previously expected to sign for around $30 million but the number was adjusted to allow the other deal to get done.
