The very thing that people hate about Russell Westbrook is what is admirable about him as well. He plays alongside the MVP and doesn’t care. Just because Durant was crowned MVP doesn’t make Russell feel as if he needs to defer to him. Apparently, nor does it mean that the MVP is above being chewed out on the court.
Last night at OKC was getting laughed out of San Antonio during their 35-point defeat, Westbrook had some words for Durant as they were headed to the huddle for a timeout. It looks like Westbrook is telling KD to “wake up.” Durant no doubt sees and hears him (because he says something back without looking at Westbrook), but keeps it moving.
This is why some are down on Russ, but you can’t question his competitiveness.
