In his third season, it’s safe to say that most hoop fans do not think that John Wall has lived up to expectations so far. Granted, he’s still young, but for as much hype as he received in high school and at Kentucky, he should be well on the Kyrie Irving arc (who has one year less experience).
But to Wall’s credit, ever since he made his season debut for the Wizards in January, they’ve been playing really well. In fact, if the season began when his season began, the Wiz would be a playoff team.
As he approached the end of his rookie contract, Wall thinks he has done enough to garner a max contract. Everybody does.
Have you started thinking about your contract extension talks yet? JW: ‘I haven’t started thinking about that.’ Really? The deadline isn’t that far away. JW: ‘That’s true. Look, I’m just enjoying D.C. This hasn’t been going the way we wanted it to, in terms of winning, but I think we are building something here.’ Do you feel like you deserve a max contract? That you’re a max guy? JW: ‘I feel like I am. I do, definitely.’
