Non NY Knicks fans of NBA basketball living in NYC have been waiting a long time for a franchise to cross over the Hudson River and take residence in New York City’s biggest borough……Brooklyn.
The decades long wait is finally over as the new look Brooklyn Nets will descend upon the brand new state of the art arena – The Barclays Center, to begin the ’12-’13 campaign. And after years of trying to rebuild the roster following the near title runs by the Jason Kidd led Nets of the early 2000’s, these new age Nets actually may win a few games….and dare I say it, have a good chance of making the playoffs.
With management retooling the roster to include what is being touted as the “Core Four” consisting of the newly signed Deron Williams, Joe Johnson, Gerald Wilkins, and Dwight Howard Brook Lopez, look for the Nets to make some noise next season.
As one could imagine, fans are delighted in Brooklyn, with the Jay Z themed BK Nets logo showing up everywhere within the borough on hats, T-shirts, and bumper stickers. Aiding the anticipation of Nets basketball on Brooklyn is an amazing mass media effort that includes full page ads in the New York Times, a new logo unveiling, and awesome commercial spots on NY television.
In a town touted as “The City that never sleeps”, perhaps the best way to get the word out about the Nets’ reincarnation is through billboard advertising. That’s why management has begun to produce 4 humongous bilboards of the “Core Four” that will go up in short order around the borough over the next few weeks.
