I realize no one is perfect, and that even NBA players miss easy shots sometimes. But if you are a coach, you have to be pulling your hair out with plays like this. The Atlanta Hawks are playing a depleted Boston Celtics team, and after winning Game 1 of the series, you have a chance to put your foot firmly over the throats of the Celtics.
Instead of making the easy play, early in the first quarter on a breakaway dunk/layup attempt, high flying Josh Smith decides to get fancy and do a pump reverse dunk. In typical sprite commercial fashion Josh Smith blows the dunk off the rim. Someone needs to remind J-Smoove that this is the playoffs. Make or break time, and no place for showboating.
