The NBA has been promoting social media platforms, specifically twitter amongst fans for quite some time now. Aside from your standard rules for the players around keeping the tweets clean, or team rules around twitter etiquette in and around practices and games, the league actually encourages the use of twitter. I can’t complain, as it gives the media unprecedented access to the thoughts and activities of players. So with that said, after you get over the initial ‘WTF’ moment, it makes sense that the league has started selling T-Shirts in The NBA Store with players twitter handles on them. You can support your favorite team, and/or player while at the same time being a walking billboard for the player’s twitter feed. Interesting.
