Kentucky’s Terrence Jones’ Gruesome Finger Injury [PIC]

December 20, 2011 – Allen Moll

Many University of Kentucky fans and haters alike have been wondering just what has been ailing Pre-Season All American Terrence Jones, who is coming off of his worst stretch of games in his short 2 year career in Lexington.

After back-to-back spirited efforts against Big East up-and-comers St John’s (26 pts, 9 reb, 4 stl, 4 blk), and former #1 North Carolina (14 pts, 7 reb, 2 stl, 3 blk), Jones has had consecutive disappointing games against Indiana and Chattanooga where he compiled a grand total of 4 points and 2 rebounds, while committing 8 turnovers. Not exactly All American production.

Luckily Coach Cal has had the services of fabulous freshmen Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Anthony Davis to pick up the slack in his absence. Davis has been coming on strong as of late, notching his 4th double-double of the season against Chattanooga(14 pts, 18 reb, 5 blk), while attempting to tear down the rim in the process.

But getting back to Jones, the news is not good as it was revealed that the sophomore forward has suffered a severely dislocated pinkie finger on his shooting hand that could sideline the potential Lottery pick anywhere up to 3 to 6 weeks.

Jones was held out of practice on Monday and is officially listed as “day to day” but the maligned finger is still swollen and black-and-blue, probably meaning that Jones will be held out of Kentucky’s national televised, non conference tilt against Samford on Tuesday and potentially out their state of intrastate Kentucky rivalry game against Louisville on December 31st.

Get well soon Terrence so you can get back to doing this…
