Kemba Walker and DJ Skee Drop the E-Z Pass Mixtape

July 6, 2011 – Allen Moll

What’s the first thing former Bronx, NY hoops prodigy Kemba Walker should do now that he’s just won won an NCAA Title and was a bonafide Lottery pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, now that the Association is deadlocked in a labor dispute resulting in a Lock-Out? Why, join forces with a big time West Coast producer to drop your very own hip-hop mixtape, of course.

Now don’t get it twisted. Kemba is not going to become a rapper a la Shaquille O’Neal or more recently 76ers super 6th man Lou Williams before him, but rather is the influence behind famed LA based producer DJ Skee.

Skee is a world renouned producer and entrepreneur who has a weekly radio show on LA’s #1 radio station KIIS FM as well as Sirius Satellite Radio. He served as producer on some of the hip hop genre’s biggest albums for artists like Snoop Dogg, The Game, and Jay-Z. He also runs his own company Skee TV, which has received more than 180 million views on Youtube.

To make a long story short, Skee is sort of a big deal in the music business just like Kemba has achieved similar stature on the hardwood at Rice HS, UConn, and now as the newest PG for Michael Jordan’s Charlotte Bobcat squad(although DJ Augustin may have something to say about that).

DJ Skee smartly used Walker’s longtime nickname “EZ-Pass” to name the disc which is described as music inspired by and for Kemba Walker. The mixtape features 23 tracks featuring new and remixed music by The Game, Drake, Fat Joe, 50 Cent, and Rick Ross, among others. You can check out the EZ Pass Mixtape for free over at Datpiff.com.
