Lebron James’ Miserable Summer Vacation

September 13, 2010 – Allen Moll

It’s that time of year again, as the days begin to get shorter, the kids are back at school, and Brett Favre fakes retirement. Oh sorry,……..wrong sport. Anyways, replace that last comment with Ron Artest does something outrageous. I’m sure everyone remembers that once back at school, one of the first things teachers ask of their students,  is to tell the rest of the class what fun and exciting things they did over the Summer.

NBA players are no different, as a number of the game’s biggest stars had very news-worthy offseason. While Amare Stoudemire has taken his immense basketball skills to the NYC, Carmelo Anthony got hitched to former MTV veejay La-La, and the Celtics have literally added the “Big Shamrock” to their roster, no player has had as a tumultuous Summer as Lebron James.

How things have changed in just one turn of the calendar, from September 2009 to the current year. Last year at this time, Lebron was hands down the league’s most popular player and with the addition of Shaquille O’Neal to the Cavaliers roster, he was primed to make a deep run towards achieving his ultimate goal of finally winning an NBA Title. Unfortunately for Lebron, things didn’t work out as planned as his squad was ousted early from the Playoffs by the ageless Boston Celtics.

Now, if you’re a Lebron James fan, and have just awoken from a coma, finished a 3 month bid in the penitentiary, or put under a spell by Shaq’s lip syncing the theme to The Karate Kid, and just flipped on the television, you might discover that a lot of things in the Land of Lebron have changed. From fans burning his old Cleveland Cavaliers jerseys, to his dunking on 2nd graders, and ESPN pulling reports of a raunchy party held in Las Vegas, here is a video diary of what was supposed to be the now infamous “Summer of Lebron.”
