Top 70 Missed Dunks in NBA Dunk Contest History (Video)

February 18, 2011 – Allen Moll

Enough with all the hype surrounding who participates and what new creative dunks they are going to unveil come All Star weekend. Let’s try something different by focusing on all those missed dunks. That’s right the misses. Even some of the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest’s all time legendary winners like Michael Jordan, Dominique Wilkins, and Nate Robinson have come up a tad short on dunk attempts.

Upon scouring the net for the newest Dunk Contest videos I stumbled onto this gem put together by the1andonlyhalm who puts together some pretty nifty NBA themed videos on his youtube channel. I thought I would pass on to you his most recent creation, showcasing the Top 70 dunk fails in NBA Dunk Contest history.

It’s a pretty unique concept. Some of my favorites include once again seeing Jordan, Shawn Kemp, and Josh Smith once again attempting and failing to tear down the rim. It’s also a really good piece of NBA history in that when checking out these dunks in order from oldest to new, it really puts into focus just how much more athletic players are today rather than 20-30 years ago. And let’s not even get started on just how short those old basketball shorts used to be.

On the flip side, if you want to see something new you can always check out 19 Creative Dunks Never Done in the Dunk Contest, that we showed you previously. But trust me, you need to bear witness to the Top 70 Missed Dunks in the history of the NBA Slam Dunk Contest……
