Ever since last season, Drake has been on the payroll of the Toronto Raptors, as he has been brought in to essentially make the team more cool. He’ll have a say in branding and is an “ambassador” for the team. Therefore, he represents the organization and has an official role with the franchise.
So when he was on stage during a recent concert and made statements to the crowd around how Kevin Durant should come to the Raptors in 2016 when he’s a free agent, that’s officially tampering according to the NBA. The team has been fined $25,000 as a result.
The NBA fined the Toronto Raptors $25,000 for comments that rapper and team ambassador Drake made at a recent concert about Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant that were deemed as tampering, ESPN.com reported Monday.
According to the report, Drake made what the NBA considered to be a public pitch to Durant, who was in attendance at the Toronto concert.
