It’s been no secret that hoops fans in the Seattle area have been longing for pro basketball in their city for a long time, essentially ever since the Sonics were moved to Oklahoma City following the 2008 NBA season.
Fans in attendance at Jamal Crawford’s Seattle Pro-Am this Summer have been given a little taste of what the Seattle area has been missing as a bevy of NBA players have shown out in the league like Tyreke Evans, Isaiah Thomas, Spencer Hawes, Kevin Durant, Jeff Green, Blake Griffin, and Crawford himself.
Even though there’s not much defense being played in the great Northwest, fans have been treated to a number of individual high scoring contests like Philly’s Spencer Hawes dropping 58 points in a game, then former NBA scoring champion Kevin Durant going one better, scoring an NBA Summer high 63 points in a contest just last week.
The now 33 year old Crawford looks rejuvenated in the Seattle Pro-Am, regularly dropping 40+ points and showing off his insane handles as he clearly has shaken off his subpar performance in last season’s NBA Playoffs.
Over the weekend, Crawford pulled a rabbit out of the hat, surprising the Seattle fans by bringing along current LA Clippers teammate and former NBA Dunk Champion Blake Griffin to put in some work in some games.
What occured had cameras continuously flashing as Crawford and Griffin unleashed their version of “Lob City” on the opposition, scoring a combined 100 points, most of the highlight reel variety.
Crawford was unstoppable, scoring 51 points, even sinking an unbelievable half-court shot, while Griffin bested his NBA single game high of 47 points, with a monstrous 49 point effort, showing off in improved handle and jumpshot as well as a bevy of windmill and reverse jams.
Surely Chris Paul must be smiling somewhere as both Griffin and Crawford appear 100% healthy as the Clippers hope to contend for the franchise’s first ever NBA crown next season.
