Video: Dwight Howard ‘Windmill Pitches’ A Shot In From Half-court

June 11, 2009 – Dr. Browntorious

All season long Lebron James and Dwight Howard were competing by trying to get the craziest half-court shots on film during their respective warm-ups. Well even though Lebron James is no longer in the playoffs, Dwight hasn’t given up on trying to ‘one-up’ Lebron.

During the warm-ups for tonight’s Game 4 of the NBA Finals between Dwight’s Orlando Magic and Kobe Bryant’s Los Angeles Lakers, Howard hit a ridiculous half-court shot. It is far and away the most difficult and improbably of the half-court shots we’ve seen Howard make this season. I don’t know how exactly to describe it, except to say he baseball “windmill pitches” it in from half. You’ll have to watch and see this one:

Yo that’s crazy. I remember the shot Lebron took during that 60 minute special on him from past half court – he was so effortless about it.

Strange how he can make that shot but miss TWO CRUCIAL FREE THROWS to WIN THE GAME FOR THE MAGIC. Dwight Howard = Nick Anderson 2.0

@Tim – not only are underhanded free throws allowed, but Rick Barry used to granny shot his free throws all the time. Very high percentage shooter as well.

Dwight Howard is a great athlete, showing how he can make this shot with ease. He still has many years to improve as a basketball player as he is young. I hope to see him step up in game 5 of the NBA finals.
