When did the Mohawk Become Cool in the NBA?

Can someone tell me when the Mohawk became cool in the NBA among basketball players? Hell, can someone tell me where and when it was EVER cool? I’m not sure if I started thinking about it recently watching Von Wafer of the Houston Rockets play, or maybe it was the recent news that Mr. T was called for jury duty this week. But regardless, as soon as I started watching tonight’s Game 6 of the Boston Celtics vs. Chicago Bulls series and saw how much Glen ‘Big Baby’ Davis’ mohawk is growing in I knew I had to ask you guys the question.
